Working experience
Convertis b.v.
september 1998 - march 2000
At Convertis I was one of the programmers working on the year-2000 problem. We adapted software, written in COBOL, so the centuryswitch did not cause any problems. Large parts of this work was done with the tool Oscar 2000. The parts that Oscar 2000 couldn’t handle were done by hand.
Netvisit b.v.
march 2000 - august 2000
At Netvisit I was a programmer supporting the design-staff. That means exporting designs to HTML, implementing clientside scripts (Javascript) and developing simple backends in Perl.
PCS Webdesign b.v.
september 2000 - march 2003
until october 2004 as a freelance programmer
At PCS Webdesign I mostly build dynamic, database-controlled websites. This also included the development
of several PHP-modules in C to interface with interfaces the clients provided, building some complicated backends to enable a wide variety of B2B communication and of course the simpler backends. It also involved a bit of system administrating, mostly Linux machines.
Hanze Hogeschool, LST
june 2003 - august 2005
Parttime job as a system/network developer at the bio-informatics department of the Hanzehogeschool Groningen. My duties were to administer the servers and workstation, to install and check new software and generally support both the staff and the students in the use of Linux.
Sound Intelligence
january 2004 - present
At Sound Intelligence I am a software engineer. I am one of the developers working on the audio-analysis software developed by SI.
Other interests
Ninjitsu Since june 2004 I’ve been training Ninjitsu regularly, at the moment I train two to three times a week and regularly visit seminars at our sister-club in Germany.
Chess Since about the end of 2002, I play a game of chess every week. I’ve been responsible for the internal competition since 2004. Also I am ‘Wedstrijdleider B’, which means I can be an official arbiter in the national competition, except for the highest class (’Meesterklasse’) and since 2004 I’m an arbiter at the Harmonietournament in Groningen. I’ve also led a lot of smaller adult- and youthtournaments.
Scouting Since november 2006 I have become part of the team leading the Scouts of Look-Wide, which is great fun to do.
